Colony held its end of season Awards gala this past Saturday evening (5 May) at the Monkey Bar, Chatswood. Congratulations to all of the winners for their outstanding contribution to the achievements of the club in 2012!

Colony: Plunder - AUC2012 Champions

Colony has claimed its 2nd consecutive national championship in only its 3rd year as a club on the national Australian Opens scene, as Colony: Plunder backed up the Colony: Pillage triumph from Nationals, last year.

Fulfilling its vision since the club’s inception, Colony fielded both competitors in the finals of AUC2012, Colony: Plunder defeated Colony: Pillage 13-11 in a tough encounter, played in cool, windy conditions on 25 April 2012 at the Cook’s Hill No. 1 Sportsground (Union Rd, Cook’s Hill, Newcastle).

Following the victory, the team indulged in a round of celebratory ‘shoeies’, as demonstrated by captain Gavin Moore on the local NBN evening news report (above).

In the 3rd place playoff, Heads of State: Burgundy (Melbourne) secured the bronze, with a hard-fought win over Fyshwick United (Canberra).

Colony: Plunder Secure 2nd Straight BCI Title

Sydney’s elite Opens club, Colony claimed the BCI title for a 3rd consecutive year (2nd consecutive title for Colony: Plunder), in Brisbane this past weekend, attended by 8 Opens club teams from across Australia, in the final competitive lead-up tournament prior to AUC2012.

Colony: Pillage entered the weekend with an extremely short roster, which resulted in some early losses, ruling them out of contention during round-robin play.

After finishing pool play in a 3-way tie for 2nd spot, Colony: Plunder won the tie-breaker to contest the final, eventually triumphing over the Wombats (Australian WUGC2012 Masters team) in the final.
